Art Deco Field Brothers Station Print

Field Brothers Station

This Art Deco Field Brothers gas station (built in 1919) would be right at home on Route 66, but it's about forty miles south in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. It was taken on a beautiful summer day, after a long trip, at the end of a friendship (as so many long trips end up being), so it has special meaning to me. It is beautiful but seems lonely -- empty but for the birds flitting in and out from under the canopy. It shines at the crossroads at the center of town, clinging to its own special time in history, not wanting to let it go.
